Inspired by the ST-GERMAIN x Glassette Tablescape Edit, Glassette co-founder Laura Jackson, shares her festive hosting tips - simple, thoughtful touches that create a warm, welcoming table full of charm and designed to bring people together.
Keep it relaxed, but thoughtful
I like to keep hosting relaxed and welcoming, layering in seasonal touches like clementines, greenery, and candles. It’s about making people feel at home rather than striving for perfection.
Look to create instant warmth
Soft lighting, plenty of candles, and music in the background; little details like these transform the atmosphere and make guests feel instantly comfortable. Serving a round of ST-GERMAIN cocktails at the start of the evening does the same – an easy, light hearted way to break the ice.
Make the cocktail the showstopper
A signature ST-GERMAIN cocktail is my favourite way to set a light, joyful tone. Served in beautiful glassware and placed alongside Arkitaip’s linen napkins, each embroidered with its own playful mantra, it becomes a moment that feels both celebratory and thoughtful. Festive ST-GERMAIN Spritz brings a dash of decadence to the occasion, while the napkins spark conversation and connection as everyone takes their seat.
Play with layers and textures
I’ll often start with a natural linen base, then add patterned ceramics, deep winter tones, and tactile touches like velvet ribbons or woven chargers. It’s the mix of playful and refined that makes a table inviting.
Personalise the setting
Handwritten or hand-painted name cards always feel special. Sometimes I get the family involved, it’s a lovely way to add a personal touch to each place setting.
Don’t overcomplicate
Lighting is everything. Dot a few single stems in vases down the table, and you’ve got instant elegance that leaves plenty of room for food - the real star of any gathering.
