Wired
Wire has become a floral material. Stems bound in copper, armatures left visible under the arrangement, single blooms held aloft on something twisted into shape by hand. The wire isn't hiding the mechanics, it's the point of the thing - closer to sculpture than to a bunch of flowers, and increasingly appearing where a vase used to be.
Gemstones
Raw mineral is turning up where polished stone used to. Agate slices as numbers on clocks, amethyst clustered on a shelf, lamp bases cut from something that still looks geological. The appeal is that no two are the same, which is a difficult quality to manufacture.
XL Lighting
Lighting has abandoned proportion. Pendants sized for a lobby hung over a two-seater table, floor lamps that arc halfway across the room, shades wide enough to double as ceiling treatment. Once a light is that large it stops being a light and starts being the plan.
Lived-in Interiors
The showroom look has run its course. Rooms are being photographed with the throw where someone left it, the stack of books unstraightened, the rug worn in the places a rug wears. It takes a certain confidence to publish a room that hasn't been tidied, and that confidence is the point.
Reflective
High shine is back and it isn't being subtle about it. Chrome legs, mirrored plinths, foil-finished ceramics, tabletops that hand you back the room. Used sparingly it opens a space up. Used generously it becomes the space.
Beaded
Beading has moved off the necklace and onto everything else. On car seats, coasters, napkin rings, glass strung along the edge of a tablecloth.
