From 24 November, Daddy Bao in Tooting is serving a £45 Christmas feasting menu that runs Taiwanese flavours through the usual festive dishes. There’s a choice of crab and prawn or sage and mushroom dumplings, then two bao, including turkey and brown sugar pork with “three cup” braised turkey and burnt ends. Garlic mala roast potatoes and wok sprouts with sticky soy glaze come on the side. Downstairs, the Good Measure bar takes groups and private hire for up to 25.

From 24 November, Daddy Bao in Tooting is serving a £45 Christmas feasting menu, giving its Taiwanese cooking a festive turn. It runs at every dinner service, Tuesday to Sunday, and at Friday lunch.

It opens with smacked cucumber and a choice of crab and prawn dumplings with dressed crab, spring onion and ginger, or sage and mushroom dumplings in broth. Then come two bao. The first is the turkey and brown sugar pork bao, with “three cup” braised turkey, brown sugar burnt ends, honey and ginger pickled carrot and crispy fried greens, or a crispy sweet potato and sage croquette bao with mushroom gravy, pickled red cabbage and nut roast crumb. The second is a prawn toast bao with sweet chilli, mayo and five spice kale, or ginger braised tofu with house kimchi, crispy onions and coriander. The sides are garlic mala roast potatoes and wok sprouts with sticky soy glaze. Dessert is a double chocolate cookie sandwich with vanilla ganache, stem ginger and caramel.

Good Measure, the bar beneath Daddy Bao, takes large groups and private hire for Christmas parties of up to 25. It serves Taiwanese cocktails and bar snacks, or a feast from the festive menu.

Daddy Bao opened in 2018 from Frank Yeung and Abhinav Malde, the founders of Mr Bao in Peckham. It’s named for Frank’s dad, Joe, who has spent more than 30 years in hospitality. Their group, 6 of 1, also runs Master Bao, Wonton Charlie’s and Cafe Kowloon.

Daddy Bao’s Christmas menu is at 113 Mitcham Rd, London SW17 9PE from 24 November, at dinner Tuesday - Sunday and at lunch on Fridays. It’s £45 per person.
