I’m tiptoeing back into January with my first monthly round-up - a rummage through the big things, the little things, and all the bits in between that have caught my eye and given my mood a gentle nudge in the right direction.

If these early days of the year have taught me anything, it’s that regular maintenance beats any big January 1st resolution. No bold declarations or shiny new promises (who has the energy?) - just small resets, tiny tweaks, and the kind of everyday rituals that quietly make life feel better.

On hosting, I keep coming back to sobremesa - the tradition of lingering at the table after a meal, staying put to talk and properly be together. “Over the table” as a way of life. More of that, please. Meal times are so much more than just the food.

And on a similar note, I’m loving the rise of cookbook clubs - choosing one book, cooking from it together, actually using the pages instead of saving recipes you’ll never return to. It’s the perfect antidote to endless scrolling: slower, sociable, a bit messy, and rooted in real connection. Food as a reason to gather, linger, and talk.

And finally, I’m noticing (and loving) this pull towards slower, more human rituals - writing lists, keeping notebooks, printing things out, even writing letters. 2026 is the year of nostalgia. It’s not about rewinding time. It’s about rebalancing power.

Pinterest predicts trending report is back for 2026. From lace-trimmed details to poetic corners, brooched detailing, and playful, hand-painted walls - these are the trends set to influence interiors and hosting this year.
