Meola Interiors creates sculptural furniture rooted in Italian artisanal craftsmanship and defined by the natural movement of burl wood. Each one of their pieces is developed with skilled artisans in Southern Italy, where proportion, balance, and material integrity guide the design, and subtle Art Deco influences appear throughout the structure of their forms.

The café is the one part of a museum nobody was obliged to make beautiful. It exists because people get tired, and for a century most institutions treated it accordingly. A counter by the cloakroom, a tray, a scone under plastic. The ones worth crossing a city for were built on the opposite assumption: that the room where you stop should be as considered as the rooms you came to see. Here are 8 of the most beautiful.

Our weekly Nice Things Edit is a curated Monday round-up of what we’re loving right now. From our favourite pieces on Glassette to a recipe, a watch, a read, a place to visit, a restaurant, and a gift worth bookmarking.
Each week, every member of the Glassette team shares their current favourites, whether that’s new arrivals, pieces we’ve spotted trending, or timeless finds we can’t stop thinking about. Think of it as a weekly dose of joy, discovery, and design inspiration, handpicked by the Glassette team.

Nice Things This Week

The second in our neighbourhood guide series - this time our Head of Creative Anna on Highbury.
I walk everywhere. That's the whole thing, really. I'll add twenty minutes to a journey to avoid going underground, and in Highbury I almost never have to - the park, the high street, the good pubs, the shops I actually use, all of it is on foot from my front door.
It helps that there's genuinely somewhere to walk to. I'd say the best restaurants and pubs in London are within a mile of here, which I know sounds like the kind of thing everyone says about their own postcode, but I'll stand behind it.
Everything below are places I'd actually go.

Furniture is the slowest thing you buy. A sofa outlasts a flat, a table gets carried between three addresses and inherited by someone who never asked for it, a locker bought for a kid's room ends up in a studio holding paperwork. So it's worth being deliberate. The 12 brands in this edit make pieces designed to be lived with rather than replaced: concrete cast by hand in a family studio, burl wood shaped by artisans in Southern Italy, plywood cut in a Brighton workshop. Some are loud, some are quiet, all of them are made by people who can tell you where the material came from. Here's who to know.

12 Furniture Brands to Follow

Wooden furniture is having a moment of decoration. Tables tattooed with swallows, hands, roses, inked straight into the grain. Wardrobes gone polka dot. Chests of drawers with cows that look like they've wandered off a dairy farm and got comfortable. Even bedframes aren't safe - birds mid-flight across a headboard.
Wood has always taken a mark well. It's just been left plain for too long.

Rome has captivated travellers for centuries, but few know how to unlock the city quite like Emily FitzRoy. As founder of Bellini Travel, she's spent the past 26 years introducing clients to a side of Italy that most visitors never see - from extraordinary private access and under-the-radar experiences to the people and places that make a trip truly unforgettable. It's an expertise that has also seen her work with HBO as the Italian specialist behind The White Lotus and Succession. Here, Emily shares her insider's guide to the Eternal City, with her tips on where to go, when to visit and how to experience Rome beyond the crowds.

Some houses take years to get right. Where We'd Stay is a new series from Glassette where we ask the people behind exceptional places to stay - hotels, villas, houses, the occasional very good Airbnb - to walk us through what they made and why.
We're starting in Suffolk, at Melton Hall: a Grade II listed Georgian house on the edge of Woodbridge, sleeping up to 17, with a pool that (according to everyone involved) stops people in their tracks. It was three years in the making - a collaboration between Cassandra Stavrou, founder of Proper Snacks, and her longtime friend and interior designer Rebecca Sicardi, who spent those years sourcing art and furniture from independent dealers, avoiding big brands entirely, and commissioning two oak tables from a single fallen tree on the grounds.
Each instalment covers one property, question by question - the design decisions, the nearby spots worth knowing about, and the one thing guests always comment on. Places we'd genuinely stay. Starting here.

Something that doesn’t happen every day: the chance to own a slice of Diane Keaton’s (very) extensive archive. Earlier this month, it was announced that New York-based auction house Bonhams will spearhead four auctions spanning May and June, offering up the late Academy Award winner’s personal archive. The sales will include everything from plush furniture and, no doubt, a killer selection of hats to red-carpet Gucci looks, artwork and trinkets collected throughout her lengthy on-screen career.
