Created in 2020 as a response to periods of self-isolation during COVID, MAAT began through an understanding of the importance of maintaining a balanced life, for the sake of positive mental and emotional well-being. Recognising the need to keep up daily exercise routines and to practice mindfulness and meditation rituals, MAAT was formed to help inspire wellness, and to bring about a sense of order, balance, and beauty to your life.

Seven places where the phone goes quiet, the kettle is always on and nobody asks you to optimise anything. For World Mental Health Day, 10 October.
Most of us are good at going away. Fewer of us are good at arriving. The laptop comes too. The group chat follows. By day three you have checked your inbox from a sun lounger and called it a holiday.
Switching off is a skill, and like most skills it is easier with the right conditions. A weak signal helps. So does a view long enough to lose an afternoon in, a bath that takes twenty minutes to fill, and staff who understand that doing nothing is the point.
None of the places below will fix anything on their own. That is not their job. What they do is remove the friction between you and rest. The rest is up to you.

The Best Places to Stay to Properly Switch Off

Halloween is not, historically, an American invention. It started on the damp edges of Ireland and Scotland as Samhain, the night the old year ended and the boundary between the living and the dead went slack. America simply added sweets and a marketing budget. What follows is a list of places that take the night seriously, in their own ways. Some are loud. Some are candlelit. One involves a lot of drumming on a hill in Edinburgh.

Best Places in the World to Spend Halloween

Our weekly Nice Things Edit is a curated Monday round-up of what we’re loving right now. From our favourite pieces on Glassette to a recipe, a watch, a read, a place to visit, a restaurant, and a gift worth bookmarking.

Nice Things This Week

Sitting somewhere between an introvert and an extrovert, the idea of travelling solo was something I both debated and fretted over. In 2023, a week after my birthday, I took the leap and headed to the sandy beaches of the Maldives. Three years on, it still feels surreal to type that sentence.

How to Travel Solo? Advice for Introverts and Extroverts!

Summer has a way of sending everyone in different directions. This year, the Glassette team is scattered across an alpine lake in Austria, an old town in the Algarve, a quiet corner of Devon, and the Italian Riviera. No grand theme, no single destination - just the places we've actually booked, the reasons we picked them, and a few recommendations worth saving for your own trip. Here's where we're going.

Retreats worth planning your year around - the ones that reset your rhythm and inspire how you live at home. From sun-soaked tomato feasts in Sicily with Casa Lawa to coastal creativity in Devon with Praktyka, and slow mornings in a Japanese onsen, these are the dates to bookmark now. Think movement, making, and meals worth travelling for, across Portugal, Japan and beyond. Consider this your gentle nudge to book it in.

Aquarius season (January 20 – February 18) invites originality, clarity, and a fresh kind of freedom.
Represented by the water-bearer, Aquarians are guided by intellect, independence, and a quietly rebellious streak. They’re drawn to ideas and objects that feel thoughtful, future-facing, and slightly unexpected - things with a point of view. Aquarius thrives in spaces that feel light and intelligently composed: clean lines, curious colour, sculptural details, and pieces that spark conversation. Not overly sentimental, but deeply intentional, they have a talent for making a home feel like a lived-in gallery - calm, clever, and distinctly their own. With wit, warmth, and a refusal to do “the obvious,” Aquarius bring a sense of possibility to everything they touch.

January arrives with a sense of pressure. Reset routines. Restore balance. Do better. Yet in the coldest, quietest month of the year, the idea of stripping life back to discipline alone feels at odds with the season itself. There’s comfort in slower mornings, earlier nights and spaces that support everyday rituals without excess. Wellbeing doesn’t need to be performative to be effective. Sometimes it’s found in sitting well, resting properly and creating a home that makes balance feel natural, not forced.

Health, comfort or both?

Our weekly Nice Things Edit is a curated collection of the pieces we’re currently loving every Monday. Each week, every member of the Glassette team selects their favourite finds, whether that’s exciting new arrivals, products we’ve spotted trending, or timeless pieces we can’t stop thinking about. It’s a moment for us to share what’s inspiring us, what we’re coveting, and what we think deserves a little extra spotlight. For easy, elevated entertaining this season. Think colourful glassware, playful table linens, and effortless serveware that makes even a simple spread feel considered. From sunny garden lunches to last-minute drinks, these are the under-£50 pieces we’ve spotted for hosting in style.

Hosting Finds Under £50

A bathroom reset doesn’t need new tiles - it needs better daily essentials and one clear rule. This guide covers the best towels for a fresher-feeling bathroom, why bar soap beats a cluttered lineup of bottles, and the single surface rule that makes the whole room look instantly calmer. Expect practical styling tips, a short shopping list, and quick habits that keep the reset lasting (even in a busy household). Small changes, big impact - and a bathroom that feels quietly hotel-level.

This month’s colour pairing brings together cranberry and eggnog - a rich maroon red paired with a soft egg white. Cranberry brings depth and festive warmth, while eggnog balances it with a creamy, calming softness. It’s a combination we’re seeing everywhere right now, from food styling to interiors.

Put the kettle on and spend five minutes with chef Ben Lippett (@dinnerbyben), whose new cookbook How I Cook is brimming with the same comfort and generosity he brings to the table. Ben shares stories of food woven with memory - like his first prawn baguette by the sea, and the quiet honour of being cooked for, especially on life’s milestone days!
