The last warm evenings of the year, and what to do with them. London in late August has a particular quality. The parks are worn thin from three months of use. The light turns amber around seven and the air cools by ten. Almost every outdoor programme in the city is now in its final fortnight, which lends the whole thing a useful urgency. You either go this week or you wait until next May.
Here are 9 ways to spend the evenings that are left, from a floating lido in the Docklands to a car park roof in Peckham.

9 Outdoor Dates for the End of Summer in London

Summer 2026 is set to be a rollicking one for music, and album covers have been nothing to turn our noses up at either. From Charli xcx to Kelela and Madonna, we’re assured months of sound that is sonically riotous. But what would décor look like if left to the devices of the albums set to soundtrack the scorching weather? From vivid pastels to minimalist backdrops and landscapes with gritty edges, here’s décor fueled by this summer’s most anticipated releases – and the albums already setting the tone for the months ahead.

2026 albums as interiors

For the one who loves a long bath, a proper cup of tea and a night in, these are gifts under £50 that still feel special. There’s a harlequin hot water bottle by CHICKPEA for the friend who’s still holding out on the heating, a porcelain shell soap dish by Minnie-Mae Studio for the bathroom shelf, and the Café Cecilia cookbook from Phaidon for the one who’d happily spend all weekend cooking.
Each one is picked with a particular person in mind, the kind who likes nice things and actually uses them. Gift something lovely this Christmas.

A stationery shop is a good test of a city. These are small businesses with thin margins, kept alive by repeat custom and a particular sort of obsessiveness. The ones that last are usually run by someone who has strong feelings about laid paper and no interest at all in footfall. Here are 8 of the most beautiful.

The centrepiece has been demoted. In its place: the salad bouquet, a vase of lettuce or kale arranged stem-down. Little Gem, lola rosa, a wedge of radicchio for colour. Edible flowers are optional, though nobody who has come this far tends to leave them out.

Fruit is having a design moment, and at Salone, it's been impossible to ignore. From Laila Gohar’s surreal fruit carousel to Chloé’s tomato-shaped seating, it showed up oversized, playful, and unexpectedly refined. Less decoration, more statement: a shift towards interiors that feel abundant, expressive, and slightly theatrical.
This edit leans into that energy, pulling together pieces that echo fruit through colour, form, and texture. A little surreal, a little joyful, and very much of the moment.

Hot Takes is a new monthly series on the things that make life better. Our creative director, Laura Jackson, lends her lens to a tightly edited selection of what’s worth knowing about. This week: Condiments.

Laura Jackson's Hot Takes: Condiments

Interiors people have a name for it: the unexpected red theory. Take a calm, considered room and add a single red object that has no business being there. A lamp. A vase. A tin of tomatoes left out on purpose. It works because it shouldn’t. The eye goes to it first, and the rest of the room looks more intentional.

Weddings are feeling less traditional and far more personal. Couples are moving away from polished perfection in favour of atmosphere, individuality and details that feel layered with meaning. Think candlelight over floral installations, initials over themes and tables that borrow from intimate dinner parties rather than classic receptions. The modern wedding is becoming an exercise in world-building, where every detail, from the lapel to the place setting, feels curated.

Autumn/Winter Wedding Trend Report

Halloween is not, historically, an American invention. It started on the damp edges of Ireland and Scotland as Samhain, the night the old year ended and the boundary between the living and the dead went slack. America simply added sweets and a marketing budget. What follows is a list of places that take the night seriously, in their own ways. Some are loud. Some are candlelit. One involves a lot of drumming on a hill in Edinburgh.

Sir Paul Smith has been a shopkeeper since 1970, when he opened a room in Nottingham that traded on Fridays and Saturdays only. Fifty-six years later he still works the floor on Albemarle Street on a Saturday, which tells you most of what you need to know. His London is a small one, and it is walked. Bury Street for the galleries, Holborn for the Soane, Claridge's at Christmas, Covent Garden for a shop that sells enamel dustpans. It is the list of a man who has spent fifty years looking at things and deciding which ones are worth keeping.

Our Co-Founder and Creative Director Laura Jackson drives two weeks up Ireland's west coast.
"Every summer we go somewhere less obvious. Last year Sweden and Gotland, this year Ireland. Three kids under six, a family van, a ferry from Holyhead into Rosslare, and two weeks working our way up the Wild Atlantic Way. We had planned to do it in a camper until we saw the price. What I hadn't expected was the food - local, seasonal, plain and very good - or how much better a pub is when there is live music and nobody is looking at your children. Tropical-looking beaches, cold Atlantic swims, lobster eaten on an empty stretch of sand. Ireland has my heart." Laura

Art Kiosk September

A lot of what inspired me this week happened around Borough.
A Turkish-Cypriot meyhane on the top floor of a pub, papered wall to wall in someone else's family photographs. A cocktail bar five minutes downhill from it, building drinks out of the market below. A Parisian burger shop in Shoreditch with four things on the menu and a queue that doesn't seem to mind.
But the one I keep thinking about is the Barbican, where every August they put a screen up on the Sculpture Court and let a few hundred people watch films on a concrete terrace in the middle of the City.
So that's the week - two restaurants, a bar, a film season, a museum and three people whose work I've been sitting with. Here's the eight.

8 Things That Inspired Me This Week

The second in our neighbourhood guide series - this time our Head of Creative Anna on Highbury.
I walk everywhere. That's the whole thing, really. I'll add twenty minutes to a journey to avoid going underground, and in Highbury I almost never have to - the park, the high street, the good pubs, the shops I actually use, all of it is on foot from my front door.
It helps that there's genuinely somewhere to walk to. I'd say the best restaurants and pubs in London are within a mile of here, which I know sounds like the kind of thing everyone says about their own postcode, but I'll stand behind it.
Everything below are places I'd actually go.
