Casa Maricruz was founded in 2021 by María Estrada, Antón Álvarez, and Álvaro Santos as a cultural movement dedicated to preserving traditional Spanish craftsmanship, redefining Spanish identity and heritage, while challenging mass production and consumerism. Through their work, they aim to act as a bridge between generations and a national network of traditional artisans, rethinking designs and twisting patterns, shapes, colours, and finishes to adapt them for a contemporary home.

Nice Things This Week

Introducing Restaurant People, a new series about the people who open restaurants, and everything they decide before you ever sit down.
Every restaurant is a list of decisions. What colour the woodwork gets painted. Which table goes to the couple who booked six weeks ago. What plays when the first guests arrive, and what plays when the last ones won't leave. You feel all of it and notice almost none of it. Restaurant People is where we ask the people who made those calls to talk us through them - the building, the room, the menu, the wine list, the record that opens the night.
We're starting with Cassette, which opens to the public tomorrow at 42 Maiden Lane.
Mark Gurney and Matthew Bushnell have spent two decades in South London, Salon in Brixton, then Levan in Peckham since 2018, and have resisted going central for most of it. Cassette is the first time they've said yes: 56 covers inside, 20 on a terrace on a quiet pedestrianised street, in a building where Turner was born and Voltaire spent a year in exile, and which spent the 19th century as a furniture and stained glass workshop. It is French, deliberately and unfashionably so. Deep aubergine woodwork, art from Kempton Market, a 360-degree curtain, and a pair of Grundig Audiorama 8000 speakers playing disco. Essa Fakhry is in the kitchen, Madeleine Fawcett is front of house, and there is a serious commitment to calvados.
Mark talked us through all of it.

Good renovation advice is almost always retrospective. You have to make the mistakes first. Room by Room is a new series from Glassette where we ask designers and homeowners to walk us through a single space: what wasn't working, what they spent too much on (and whether it was worth it), and what they'd tell you before you pick up a sledgehammer.
In the heart of London sits a slice of Iran in restaurant form. Persian decor adorns the interior of Berenjak Mayfair, which opened its doors earlier this year. It's described as "busy, buzzy and intimate" by Jake Raslan and Lorenzo Buscaroli, the minds behind the interiors – and we're inclined to agree.
With an expansive budget, the pair were able to bring to life stunning details, from a hand-painted ceiling by a specialist decorative artist, inspired by historic Persian miniatures, to bespoke marble mosaic floors in the toilets and elegantly draped curtains. The devil is truly in the detail when it comes to the Mayfair dining spot.
An endeavour that took more than a year to complete, a great deal of time, sweat, bespoke tiles and love were clearly poured into the space. On the food front, guests are treated to an immersive experience, with a kitchen that spills into the dining space, allowing them to watch stone-baked bread and smoked meats being prepared in real time.
We caught up with the brains behind the project to uncover the most expensive details, why handmade craftsmanship really is worth the investment, and whether they have any regrets.

Glassette's first seasonal trend report is here. For summer 2026, we've been watching the things quietly gathering momentum across interiors, homeware and food that haven't made headlines yet, but will.

Chelsea Flower Show is here. To celebrate, we've put together an edit that asks: what if flowers were interiors? The answer, it turns out, is rather beautiful.

Flowers as Interiors

A pairing that shouldn't work as well as it does, cherry and turquoise operate on pure contrast. Saturated warmth against electric cool, the richness of a deep red-toned cherry meeting the clarity of an almost Mediterranean turquoise.
Cherry anchors the combination, bringing depth, drama, and a sense of the deeply considered. Turquoise cuts through it with energy and lightness, stopping the whole thing from taking itself too seriously. Together they create something that feels simultaneously bold and balanced, the kind of colour story that looks instinctive but is anything but.

Gifting is one of those things everyone wants to do well and almost no one has time to think about properly. The Glassette Gift List is here to do the thinking for you - one considered edit a month, built around the moments that actually matter.
No endless scrolling. No panic buying. Just the right things, for the right people, at the right time.

Looking for an evening ritual without wine that still feels indulgent? This Glassette guide explores what to replace wine with instead, from warm drinks and alcohol-free aperitifs to calming objects and sensory cues that help you properly wind down. In 2026, let your interiors moodboard begin on screen. These five films are immersive worlds where colour, composition and object placement feel quietly intentional. Watch for painted walls that set the emotional temperature, fabrics that catch the light, and rooms styled with a restrained confidence: a few standout pieces, thoughtfully spaced, doing more than a crowded shelf ever could. There are motifs worth borrowing too - florals that feel modern, metals that read softly rather than shiny, and palettes that balance sweetness with edge. Consider each film a design reference point: part escapism, part study in how atmosphere is built.

Granny Core is having a moment - and it ties directly into Pinterest’s 2026 trend, Laced Up. A softer, sweeter, slightly nostalgic turn to interiors. Think ruffled lampshades, scalloped edges, embroidery, floral wallpaper and patchwork blankets that look like they’ve been collected over time.
Pinterest is calling it: comfort is cool again, and the look is all about layering - pattern on pattern, texture on texture. It’s cosy, and quietly confident.

This week’s moodboard is a combination of some of the most classic Christmas film interiors - from softly lit family rooms to cosy cottages, lived-in London houses filled with unapologetically festive decorations.
