Surfer Ainara (@ainaraymat) lives in Zarautz, twenty minutes along the coast from San Sebastián. We followed her between the two, from the coffee bar she starts the day in to a pintxos counter where nobody sits down. These are the places she keeps going back to, and the ones most visitors walk straight past.
With Magic Capture on Google Pixel 11 Pro, she films the wave and pulls the stills out afterwards, so she can watch the water instead of the screen.

The kitchen is the room that gets used hardest and shopped for most carelessly. A peeler from the supermarket, a chopping board that came free with something, glasses that survived the last move. The 17 brands in this edit are the case for doing it on purpose: chopping boards cut in a Dartmouth workshop, enamel that has kept its blue rim since the 1920s, glass mouth-blown in Poland, hand-painted plates made in Portugal for a Belgian label. Some of it is built for the hob and some of it for the table. Here's who to save.

Every month, she shares the products she can't stop thinking about, the trends quietly moving into interiors, and honest recommendations she'd genuinely spend her own money on.
This month: the back-to-school dread that ends, as ever, in a new notebook and a house full of primary colours, the frames built around a polaroid strip rather than in spite of it, the tea towels she's decided are too good for the kitchen and has hung on the wall instead, the yoghurt topping the whole office keeps asking about, and the six mirrors doing six entirely different things with the same object.

Wedding lists have a habit of playing it safe. Twelve of everything, in white, to be used twice a year. This edit takes a different view: presents the couple will actually reach for. Glassware with some personality, a casserole dish that will outlive the marriage certificate's frame, a butter dish in a colour that starts conversations. Some are practical, some are purely sentimental, and some are great to bring out when you have guests over (we’re talking about the Magnum). Whichever you choose, it says you put real thought into it, and that's what makes a wedding gift meaningful.

“I've made so many friends all over the world and have had so many discussions with followers about books they've read and loved,” says Rachel Soo Thow, the visionary behind the online literary Instagram account, The Lit List, of the virtual community she’s cultivated. “On the other hand, I've also had conversations with readers about books they didn't love and why; and that's what I love about this community – discussion invites intrigue, and if I can create that, then my job is done.” The 187k people who follow Rachel (and counting) would undoubtedly agree.
What started as a page to document the books she loved, those she didn’t love quite so much, and why, has grown into a powerhouse. On the feed, you’ll find the New Zealand-based creative’s current reading list, accompanied by short blurbs about each novel, essays she’s reading to combat internet brain rot, her personal Substack essays, and much more.
Alongside this, Rachel has launched a subsidiary account, Litsy, where non-viral book recommendations – both old and new – can thrive. Her approach to reading is entirely mood-based, and she’ll often pick up a book and, “if it doesn't grab me, then I put it aside and move on to the next one”. Solid advice, to be honest.
Rachel is a woman who knows what she wants to read – so we caught up with her to find out which books will be occupying her summer, the head-scratchers that left her rethinking, well, everything, the essays she keeps returning to, and, most importantly, whether she’s a bookmark user or a page-folder.

Fruit is having a design moment, and at Salone, it's been impossible to ignore. From Laila Gohar’s surreal fruit carousel to Chloé’s tomato-shaped seating, it showed up oversized, playful, and unexpectedly refined. Less decoration, more statement: a shift towards interiors that feel abundant, expressive, and slightly theatrical.
This edit leans into that energy, pulling together pieces that echo fruit through colour, form, and texture. A little surreal, a little joyful, and very much of the moment.

Product Diaries - March

Spend a few minutes with Dee Rettali, Founder of Fortitude Bakehouse and you quickly sense that baking, for her, is rooted in instinct, memory and place. Raised in rural North Cork, surrounded by farmland and seasonal produce, she grew up learning to bake from her mother and grandmother - soda breads, jams and apple pies made simply and well.
After moving to London in the late 80s, Dee found her calling in professional baking, eventually founding Fortitude Bakehouse, now known for its nostalgic, craft-led bakes. Here, she reflects on Irish food traditions, instinctive baking and the flavours that still define home.

Aquarius season (January 20 – February 18) invites originality, clarity, and a fresh kind of freedom.
Represented by the water-bearer, Aquarians are guided by intellect, independence, and a quietly rebellious streak. They’re drawn to ideas and objects that feel thoughtful, future-facing, and slightly unexpected - things with a point of view. Aquarius thrives in spaces that feel light and intelligently composed: clean lines, curious colour, sculptural details, and pieces that spark conversation. Not overly sentimental, but deeply intentional, they have a talent for making a home feel like a lived-in gallery - calm, clever, and distinctly their own. With wit, warmth, and a refusal to do “the obvious,” Aquarius bring a sense of possibility to everything they touch.

January arrives with a sense of pressure. Reset routines. Restore balance. Do better. Yet in the coldest, quietest month of the year, the idea of stripping life back to discipline alone feels at odds with the season itself. There’s comfort in slower mornings, earlier nights and spaces that support everyday rituals without excess. Wellbeing doesn’t need to be performative to be effective. Sometimes it’s found in sitting well, resting properly and creating a home that makes balance feel natural, not forced.

Health, comfort or both?

For all your gifting moments with the baker in your life! For the friend who brings homemade cookies to every gathering, or the colleague who’s always trialling a new loaf. These are gifts that feel thoughtful without the second-guessing. Think a baking book from Phaidon or Gestalten to spark their next creation, a set of baking tools from Dexam or Our Place, or a classic Le Creuset piece to elevate their kitchen repertoire.

Put the kettle on and spend five minutes with Amelia Christie-Miller (@ameliachristiemiller), the founder of Bold Bean Co (@boldbeanco), the brand turning humble beans into cult kitchen staples. Once a self-proclaimed bean sceptic, Amelia’s love affair began with a hangover and a jar of heirloom butter beans in Spain, one spoonful later, she was hooked. What started as a revelation has become a movement: showing the world that beans can be delicious, nutritious, joyful, and planet-friendly.
From building a business rooted in sustainability to collaborating with Ottolenghi and hitting Sunday Times Bestseller status with her new book Full of Beans, Amelia is proving that beans really can change the world - one creamy spoonful at a time. She talks about rewriting the rules of “tinned food”, celebrating indulgence without compromise, and how a simple jar of beans became the foundation for a more flavourful, thoughtful way of eating.

Put the kettle on and spend five minutes with chef Abby Lee (@abby_lee_chef), whose cooking is a love letter to her Malaysian roots and the power of food to heal. After burning out and finding herself back home during lockdown, Abby rediscovered the bold, soulful flavours of her childhood through her aunt’s kitchen and it changed everything. Now, at her London restaurant Mambow, she’s bringing that same heart and heat to the table: smoky gula melaka–laced desserts, punchy curries, and dishes that balance memory with modern flair. Abby talks about finding her voice through food, the joy of reconnecting with her heritage, and why cooking still grounds her like nothing else.

Put the kettle on and spend five minutes with Olivia Cavalli (@olivia_cavalli), the chef, food stylist, and writer whose debut cookbook Stagioni is a heartfelt ode to the rhythm of the seasons, and to her Italian roots. Olivia’s approach to food is steeped in instinct and tradition, inspired by her beloved Nonna who taught her that cooking is less about rules and more about feeling - “a little bit of this, a little bit of that.” Olivia shares how her heritage continues to shape her cooking, from the reverence for ingredients and seasonality to the joy of preserving family recipes. She talks about finding creativity in the ebb and flow of her multifaceted career, the comfort of a simple bowl of pasta, and the enduring legacy of her Nonna’s “Piggy” - a stuffed cabbage dish that holds generations of love in every bite.
