The Midnight Margarita
Midnight margaritas belong to one scene in one film. Sally and Gillian Owens in the kitchen at midnight with their aunts, Harry Nilsson's "Coconut" on, the blender going. It has been twenty-eight years and people still make them in October.
Channeling the charm and nostalgia of a 90's Practical Magic tablescape, we couldn’t resist conjuring up something a little spirited… literally! Ours is tequila, Cointreau and lime, sweetened with agave or honey, with salt and Tajín on the rim for heat. It takes about four minutes.
Our Midnight Margarita is the perfect blend of magic and mischief, ready to elevate your Halloween evening. Follow our recipe and create a cocktail as fun and enchanting as the scene that inspired it!
Ingredients
• 2 parts tequila
• 1 part Cointreau
• 1 part lime juice
• Agave, fruit syrup or honey
• Salt
• Tajin
Methods
1. Put some salt and Tajin on a plate.
2. Rub the rim of your glass with lime. Turn the glass upside down and lightly cover the rim of the glass in the salt. Then fill the glass with ice.
3. Combine the tequila, Cointreau and the lime juice in a cocktail shaker and fill the shaker with ice. Put the lid on the shaker and shake for a couple of seconds.
4. Strain into the glass and serve with a garnish of lime.
