There is a certain kind of house where nothing is ever really put away. Things gather, plants creep in, flowers dry out, furniture gets moved around, and somehow it all becomes part of the place. That’s what the Owens house in Practical Magic feels like.
Inside, the aesthetic is one of beautiful chaos: mismatched china, copper pans, jars of herbs, pressed flowers and old books stacked everywhere. Nothing is too neat. The kitchen opens onto a glass conservatory, while the rooms are full of details that feel accumulated over time. The house doesn’t look haunted so much as inhabited. Even the more fantastical details feel completely at home there.

Tanya spent years in beauty and fashion before founding Chapter, the book club that has grown from a monthly recommendation into something closer to a literary community. Reading Rooms, author talks, events, and a lot of people arguing amiably about the same novel. She reads widely, chooses her monthly pick before she's read it herself, and is a firm believer that you need a few weeks' distance from a book to know what it actually did to you.

Autumn Reading List

When you work for Glassette, inspiration has a habit of following you everywhere. For me, travelling is no easy switch-off. My editorial eye is wide open. A five-minute stroll can quickly become an hour when there’s a doorway worth photographing, a particularly good tiled floor or a beautifully set-up bistro table you aren’t even dining at. Every detail feels worth documenting, and every snap brings my iPhone one step closer to begging for more storage.
On the flight home, headphones on, I find myself scrolling through everything I’ve captured, wondering what made me stop in the first place. Why that particular window? What was it about that dish, that shopfront, that slightly faded sign?
After a recent weekend in Marseille, I realised this is how I remember a place: by taking its details and turning them into a visual moodboard. A colour combination I’d never thought to put together, a soap I suddenly need in my bathroom, a table setting worth recreating at home. A collection of little visual souvenirs that follow me home and find their way into everyday life.
So, here is my Marseille moodboard.

Travelling With an Eye For Detail: Marseille

The second in our Where We'd Stay series, where we get the people behind exceptional places to stay to talk us through what they built and why.
This time we're on the Devon-Dorset border, at Glebe House: a late Georgian vicarage turned working farm, sleeping up to 18 across nine bedrooms and a handful of cabins, run by Hugo and Olive Guest as an English answer to the Italian agriturismo. Hugo's family home for decades, it was Emma and Chuck Guest's foodie B&B before Hugo and Olive took it on themselves - leaving their jobs in London with a three-month-old baby, an EU grant, and a plan to grow it from three bedrooms to nine. Six years on, there's a restaurant, a kitchen garden, an on-site bakery and salumi ageing room, a sauna and cold plunge, and a sitting room painted a deep terracotta they call fruit fool.
Olive worked with Studio Alexandra on the main house, then took over the interiors herself as the place expanded - painting furniture gradually over the years, and, more recently, teaching herself mosaic-making on a two-metre kitchen backsplash that had to be built upstairs, dismantled, carried down piece by piece, and rebuilt on the kitchen table (where the family ate around it for a fortnight) before it finally went into one of the cabins.
Each instalment covers one property, question by question - the design decisions, the nearby spots worth knowing about, and the one thing guests always comment on. This time: that you've walked into an old friend's house, and somehow you're still being hosted exceptionally well.

Where We'd Stay

Mint has a habit of looking unfinished; silver is what finishes it. On its own, mint can feel undecided, hovering somewhere between pastel and green. Silver gives it something to play against. 
One comes from the garden, the other from the workshop, but side by side they lose that distance fast. Mint softens the shine, silver sharpens the green, and suddenly both colours make more sense together than they ever did apart.

Wedding lists have a habit of playing it safe. Twelve of everything, in white, to be used twice a year. This edit takes a different view: presents the couple will actually reach for. Glassware with some personality, a casserole dish that will outlive the marriage certificate's frame, a butter dish in a colour that starts conversations. Some are practical, some are purely sentimental, and some are great to bring out when you have guests over (we’re talking about the Magnum). Whichever you choose, it says you put real thought into it, and that's what makes a wedding gift meaningful.

Good renovation advice is almost always retrospective. You have to make the mistakes first. Room by Room is a new series from Glassette where we ask designers and homeowners to walk us through a single space: what wasn't working, what they spent too much on (and whether it was worth it), and what they'd tell you before you pick up a sledgehammer.
For the latest instalment of Room by Room, we spoke to Corey Hemingway, co-founder of design-led estate agency Hemingway+K, about the kitchen extension of her 1960s London townhouse. What started as a small, dingy space became a warm, light-filled room designed to do everything at once: cook, work, host, and connect seamlessly to the garden beyond.
Twelve months in the making, the project came with its share of surprises - deeper foundations, escalating construction costs, and the occasional challenge of being, in Corey's words, a "tyrannical perfectionist". Along the way, she learned the value of trusting contractors, following instinct when choosing materials, and investing in the elements that shape a room's atmosphere.
