Custard yellow and woven work because neither is trying to outshine the other. Similar in warmth, different in texture, they keep the eye moving. Custard brings the colour, woven brings the grain. Together they feel less like a pairing and more like a season, sunlit whatever the weather.

Good renovation advice is almost always retrospective. You have to make the mistakes first. Room by Room is Glassette's series in which we ask designers and homeowners to walk us through their spaces: what wasn't working, what they spent too much on (and whether it was worth it), and what they'd tell you before you pick up a sledgehammer.
For the latest instalment of Room by Room, we spoke to Patricia Rodi, founder of interior design studio Rodi Cécile, about the renovation of her 1860 Victorian villa. Previous owners had over-modernised it, with lowered ceilings hiding the original cornicing, blocked-up fireplaces, and open-plan spaces that left rooms darker rather than brighter. Since then the house has slowly been returned to itself: fourteen rooms reworked to hold family life and two working studios under one roof.
Three years in, with four rooms still to go, the project has had its share of surprises. There were builders' bills inflated by a remote location, fireplaces that cost far more than expected, and a boiler that gave up five days after moving in. Along the way, she learned to live with an old house before making big decisions and to protect original character wherever possible, because, in her words, "you can destroy a century of work in a few seconds".
From reinstated fireplaces and warm pools of lamplight to a kitchen repainted from muted green to brown-red, Patricia takes us through the decisions, splurges and lessons behind a home designed to feel as though it evolved over generations.

The supper club sits somewhere between a dinner party and a restaurant. You eat what you're given, at a time someone else has decided, usually next to people you've never met. What you get in return is a menu nobody had to make commercially viable: a chef testing an idea, a format that would collapse across a full service, food that arrives in the middle of the table because there's no other sensible way to serve it.
The 11 below run out of home kitchens, a decommissioned Victoria line carriage, a 200-year-old cotton mill on the River Goyt and a lakeside restaurant in the Cotswolds. Some seat 32 people four times a year. Some are built on the assumption that you're coming alone. Prices start around £30 and go to £140, and the only constant is that someone else has decided what you're eating.

Nice Things This Week

Our Co-Founder and Creative Director Laura Jackson drives two weeks up Ireland's west coast.
"Every summer we go somewhere less obvious. Last year Sweden and Gotland, this year Ireland. Three kids under six, a family van, a ferry from Holyhead into Rosslare, and two weeks working our way up the Wild Atlantic Way. We had planned to do it in a camper until we saw the price. What I hadn't expected was the food - local, seasonal, plain and very good - or how much better a pub is when there is live music and nobody is looking at your children. Tropical-looking beaches, cold Atlantic swims, lobster eaten on an empty stretch of sand. Ireland has my heart." Laura

Napkins don’t need to remain as plain, folded squares placed beside a plate. With a little creativity, they can be twisted, tied, or sculpted into shapes that feel just as delightful as the meal itself. From simple knots and casual rolls to more intricate origami-inspired folds, napkins can instantly elevate the dining experience. They add a touch of artistry, charm, and personality to the table, making even everyday meals feel special. Here are a few ideas to style your napkins and bring extra joy to your table setting.

This moodboard gathers around the candlelit tables and weathered wooden interiors of a remote Danish village, as seen in Gabriel Axel’s Babette’s Feast (1987) - a world where austerity slowly yields to abundance and grace. We’ve chosen linen tablecloths, white ceramics, and glimmering silverware to capture a touch of that quiet, soulful hospitality for your home.

The Bloomcore (also referred to as Meadowcore or Petalcore) aesthetic centres around whimsical greenery, the glow of golden hour, expansive grassy fields, and the romance of bringing the outdoors in. A Meadowcore inspired tablescape features unironed, relaxed tablecloths scattered with florals, bud vases, taper candles and most importantly flowers and greenery aplenty. When in doubt, more is more.

Bloomcore Edit

From slow weekend breakfasts, to golden hour gatherings, this is the season to move the table outside. Our edit brings together the most-loved pieces for outdoor dining - layered, joyful and full of character.

Make yourself a cup of tea and take five minutes with Alessandro Giannatempo, an Italian-born, recipe developer whose dishes are rooted in memory and driven by curiosity. Growing up in Emilia Romagna with family ties stretching from Sardinia to Puglia, he learned early on that food was a bridge to people and place - like his grandmother’s Crugugionis, delicate ravioli filled with ricotta, orange zest and saffron, forever tied to family dinners and summer light.
