Six Dots design is an award-winning furniture and homeware brand based in East London. Championing self-expression, imperfection, and self-determination both inside and beyond the home, the brand embraces expressive forms, raw materials, and visible imperfections to challenge the norms of interior design. Their hope is that when someone owns one of their pieces, they’ll feel empowered and inspired to create on their own terms.

Halloween is not, historically, an American invention. It started on the damp edges of Ireland and Scotland as Samhain, the night the old year ended and the boundary between the living and the dead went slack. America simply added sweets and a marketing budget. What follows is a list of places that take the night seriously, in their own ways. Some are loud. Some are candlelit. One involves a lot of drumming on a hill in Edinburgh.

Best Places in the World to Spend Halloween

Two materials that agree on nothing except where to meet. One warm and one cold.
Wood holds heat - in colour, in grain, in the way it takes a mark and keeps it. Steel gives it straight back. Nothing sinks in, nothing softens.
Both are great on their own. Together they do something else - the room stops leaning one way, and the eye keeps moving between the two.

September arrives and something in us wants a clean page. Not a resolution, exactly - more the low-grade satisfaction of a fresh notebook and a pen that works. The desk gets cleared. The old diary, three months untouched, goes in the drawer. Our collection with Papier is built for this particular itch: notebooks and notecards that look good enough to leave out on the table and are sturdy enough to actually get used. Start with the notebook. The rest tends to follow.

Furniture is the slowest thing you buy. A sofa outlasts a flat, a table gets carried between three addresses and inherited by someone who never asked for it, a locker bought for a kid's room ends up in a studio holding paperwork. So it's worth being deliberate. The 12 brands in this edit make pieces designed to be lived with rather than replaced: concrete cast by hand in a family studio, burl wood shaped by artisans in Southern Italy, plywood cut in a Brighton workshop. Some are loud, some are quiet, all of them are made by people who can tell you where the material came from. Here's who to know.

In 1967, Anna Castelli Ferrieri designed a storage unit that didn't look like storage at all. Three stacking drums, a swivel base, doors that click shut with a satisfying half-turn. Kartell has barely touched the design since. Today it sits in bathrooms, nurseries and design museums with equal confidence. Below, we take a closer look at the story behind the Componibili, and the injection-moulding breakthrough that made it possible.

Mint has a habit of looking unfinished; silver is what finishes it. On its own, mint can feel undecided, hovering somewhere between pastel and green. Silver gives it something to play against.
One comes from the garden, the other from the workshop, but side by side they lose that distance fast. Mint softens the shine, silver sharpens the green, and suddenly both colours make more sense together than they ever did apart.

The listening bar has been having its moment - low lights, drinks, someone earnest behind the turntable. Now the ritual is moving home, and the hi-fi evening has become something you host rather than book. Think a turntable given pride of place, records shelved to be seen, seating arranged around the speakers rather than the television. It's hosting at its most generous: one album, played properly, start to finish. We've curated the room - the music, mercifully, remains yours. Below, everything but the B-sides.

Wedding lists have a habit of playing it safe. Twelve of everything, in white, to be used twice a year. This edit takes a different view: presents the couple will actually reach for. Glassware with some personality, a casserole dish that will outlive the marriage certificate's frame, a butter dish in a colour that starts conversations. Some are practical, some are purely sentimental, and some are great to bring out when you have guests over (we’re talking about the Magnum). Whichever you choose, it says you put real thought into it, and that's what makes a wedding gift meaningful.

In 1956, Charles and Ray Eames unveiled a chair designed to feel like "a well-used first baseman's mitt". It took three years, seven prototypes and one abandoned plywood shell to get there. Since then, Herman Miller has produced it with remarkably few changes. Today, it's part of MoMA's permanent collection and has found its way into living rooms around the world. Below, we take a closer look at the story behind the iconic chair, and the thoughtful engineering that made it a design classic.

What's On In July

“Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same,” Cathy Earnshaw declares in Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights. If that sentiment were an interior, it might look like this: an all-pink bedroom that feels flushed with emotion, not sweetness. As Emerald Fennell’s new film pulls the story back into the cultural bloodstream, glimpses of the sets and costumes suggest a bold, surreal fever dream of Gothic romance. Cathy’s bedroom is the purest expression of it, a masterclass in pink that reportedly nods to Margot Robbie’s own skin tones, with layered textures and uncanny, intimate detailing that leaves the space saturated with her presence.

Nice Things This Week

For 2026, interiors move towards spaces that feel warmer, more personal and intentionally lived-in. From expressive woods and softly reflective chrome to sociable banquette seating and cosy, cocooning nooks, the focus is on creating homes with depth and character. Design becomes less about perfection and more about personality, layering meaningful details, playful elements and thoughtful contrasts. These are interiors designed to evolve over time, telling stories through material, form and feeling, and balancing everyday comfort with a sense of quiet, confident style.

2026 Interior Trends

In 2026, let your interiors moodboard begin on screen. These five films are immersive worlds where colour, composition and object placement feel quietly intentional. Watch for painted walls that set the emotional temperature, fabrics that catch the light, and rooms styled with a restrained confidence: a few standout pieces, thoughtfully spaced, doing more than a crowded shelf ever could. There are motifs worth borrowing too - florals that feel modern, metals that read softly rather than shiny, and palettes that balance sweetness with edge. Consider each film a design reference point: part escapism, part study in how atmosphere is built.

For this Best of Lighting edit, we’re focusing on pieces that do more than just illuminate, they set the mood. Think soft, warm glows balanced with cleaner, clearer light: lighting that feels comforting.
The best designs strike that sweet spot between atmosphere and function. Together, they create spaces that feel considered, calm, and quietly uplifting. From sculptural pendants to understated table lamps, each piece has been chosen for its ability to elevate a room without overpowering it.

Frank Gehry design is defined by asymmetry, material honesty and a refusal to prioritise visual perfection over lived experience. This editorial explores why Gehry’s approach still matters today, how his principles translate into interiors, and how to borrow the mindset without literal imitation. A modern guide to designing spaces that feel human, expressive and quietly radical.
