Silly Filly was started by Kiera Black as a personal craft project, designed to encourage creative play outside of her full-time job. Born out of a desire to make space for playful, unserious art-making, her prints draw on an eclectic range of inspirations - from French electronica, Spike Milligan rhymes, overheard phrases, and early-morning daydreams. Her aim is to create a world where the playful and silly meets surreal and romantic, through visual art on beautifully textured paper, with an extra bonus of a tree being planted for every print bought!

A lot of what inspired me this week happened around Borough.
A Turkish-Cypriot meyhane on the top floor of a pub, papered wall to wall in someone else's family photographs. A cocktail bar five minutes downhill from it, building drinks out of the market below. A Parisian burger shop in Shoreditch with four things on the menu and a queue that doesn't seem to mind.
But the one I keep thinking about is the Barbican, where every August they put a screen up on the Sculpture Court and let a few hundred people watch films on a concrete terrace in the middle of the City.
So that's the week - two restaurants, a bar, a film season, a museum and three people whose work I've been sitting with. Here's the eight.

8 Things That Inspired Me This Week

These are places where art, design and craft aren't a district or a season, but the whole personality of the place. You probably remember the first museum you visited on a family holiday thanks to a keychain you bought or an artist whose work really resonated with you and transports you back to a particular place. Better yet, the best creative cities aren't always the ones with the biggest museums or the most famous galleries, they're the places where making things is woven into everyday life: where art, design and craft shape the streets, the buildings, the food, the music and the people who live there. Some have spent centuries passing skills from one generation to the next, while others have reinvented themselves through artists, students and makers. Here are some places that do it especially well.

The Most Creative Cities in the World

Think of it as your cultural compass for the month ahead: a considered edit of art, food, cinema and design, chosen to inspire weekends well spent.

What's On In July

Art has a way of choosing its location well. The places on this list aren't cities that happen to have galleries - they're towns, islands, and desert outposts where the art and the landscape have become inseparable. A whitewashed fishing village that drew Dalí. A Japanese island that became a permanent installation. A valley in the Sonoran that made space for something stranger. Whether you're planning around them or letting them redirect a trip entirely, these are ten places worth knowing about.
