30 Things To Do At Home This Summer

The listening bar has been having its moment - low lights, drinks, someone earnest behind the turntable. Now the ritual is moving home, and the hi-fi evening has become something you host rather than book. Think a turntable given pride of place, records shelved to be seen, seating arranged around the speakers rather than the television. It's hosting at its most generous: one album, played properly, start to finish. We've curated the room - the music, mercifully, remains yours. Below, everything but the B-sides.

Trending Now: The Home Listening Room

The drinks matter. The room matters more than anyone likes to admit.
A good bar is a piece of set design. The lighting is low, the seating is arranged so everyone can see everyone else, and the bartender stands where the eye naturally lands. Here are seven rooms that would hold up with the lights on. Nobody has checked.

These are places where art, design and craft aren't a district or a season, but the whole personality of the place. You probably remember the first museum you visited on a family holiday thanks to a keychain you bought or an artist whose work really resonated with you and transports you back to a particular place. Better yet, the best creative cities aren't always the ones with the biggest museums or the most famous galleries, they're the places where making things is woven into everyday life: where art, design and craft shape the streets, the buildings, the food, the music and the people who live there. Some have spent centuries passing skills from one generation to the next, while others have reinvented themselves through artists, students and makers. Here are some places that do it especially well.

The Most Creative Cities in the World

Cannes 2026 has been a festival of quiet surprises the anticipated prestige titles arriving to polite applause while the real heat has come from unexpected corners: a WWI friendship drama of unusual tenderness, a Hamaguchi that earns admiration if not always love, Mungiu transplanted to a Norwegian fjord with all his discomfort intact, a Korean horror master making his case for the main competition, a Nigerian Mrs Dalloway that turns out to be one of the year's most seductive films, and an internet comedian who walked into Un Certain Regard and walked out with a $17 million A24 deal. Here are the six films you need to know about.

Fancy soft drinks are no longer an afterthought. This Glassette edit explores the best non-alcoholic drinks to serve instead, from bitter aperitif-style blends to refined sparkling options. Learn what to look for, how to serve them properly, and which bottles are actually worth buying if you care about flavour, table aesthetics and hosting well.

Fancy Soft Drinks

Ice is the main character in modern drinks, from large cubes and well-designed trays to thoughtful garnish choices. This Glassette edit explains why ice matters, how different cube sizes affect flavour and dilution, and which tools are actually worth owning. Practical, design-led guidance for better drinks at home, whether you’re hosting dinner, making a quiet evening G&T, or upgrading your everyday rituals with minimal effort.

The Case for Ice

A no-booze bar cart is a good excuse to rethink the drinks trolley, starting with what sits on it rather than what's usually poured from it. Glassware, trays and carafes have just as much to contribute as the drinks themselves, and alcohol-free options are worth giving a little space of their own. Here's how to get the set-up right, from choosing the cart to the glasses and bottles that make the cut.

How to Build a No-Booze Bar Cart at Home

Alcohol-free hosting doesn’t have to feel like a compromise. This Glassette guide shows how to host without alcohol in a way that’s still chic, generous and genuinely enjoyable - from designing drinks with structure to creating atmosphere through lighting, ritual and glassware. A modern, inclusive approach to entertaining that feels intentional, grown-up and quietly confident.
