Palefire makes playful, decorative homeware joining up a resolutely maximalist approach with sustainable practices. Founder Rowena Morgan Cox started the small London-based design studio with a view to bringing an exuberant artistic sensibility to design for the home. Her focus on colour, play and painterly surfaces takes its cue from historical design movements such as Arts & Crafts and the Omega Workshops. Each piece from Palefire’s debut lighting collection is hand-painted and made-to-order.

The second in our neighbourhood guide series - this time our Head of Creative Anna on Highbury.
​I walk everywhere. That's the whole thing, really. I'll add twenty minutes to a journey to avoid going underground, and in Highbury I almost never have to - the park, the high street, the good pubs, the shops I actually use, all of it is on foot from my front door.
It helps that there's genuinely somewhere to walk to. I'd say the best restaurants and pubs in London are within a mile of here, which I know sounds like the kind of thing everyone says about their own postcode, but I'll stand behind it.

Some houses take years to get right. Where We'd Stay is a new series from Glassette where we ask the people behind exceptional places to stay - hotels, villas, houses, the occasional very good Airbnb - to walk us through what they made and why.
We're starting in Suffolk, at Melton Hall: a Grade II listed Georgian house on the edge of Woodbridge, sleeping up to 17, with a pool that (according to everyone involved) stops people in their tracks. It was three years in the making - a collaboration between Cassandra Stavrou, founder of Proper Snacks, and her longtime friend and interior designer Rebecca Sicardi, who spent those years sourcing art and furniture from independent dealers, avoiding big brands entirely, and commissioning two oak tables from a single fallen tree on the grounds.

Where We'd Stay

Good renovation advice is almost always retrospective. You have to make the mistakes first. Room by Room is a new series from Glassette where we ask designers and homeowners to walk us through a single space: what wasn't working, what they spent too much on (and whether it was worth it), and what they'd tell you before you pick up a sledgehammer.
For the latest instalment of Room by Room, we spoke to Corey Hemingway, co-founder of design-led estate agency Hemingway+K, about the kitchen extension of her 1960s London townhouse. What started as a small, dingy space became a warm, light-filled room designed to do everything at once: cook, work, host, and connect seamlessly to the garden beyond.
Twelve months in the making, the project came with its share of surprises - deeper foundations, escalating construction costs, and the occasional challenge of being, in Corey's words, a "tyrannical perfectionist". Along the way, she learned the value of trusting contractors, following instinct when choosing materials, and investing in the elements that shape a room's atmosphere.
From Douglas fir walls and butter-yellow joinery to the Accoya sliding doors that frame the garden, Corey takes us through the decisions, splurges and lessons behind her favourite room in the house.

There's a reason we spend so much time rearranging, repainting and quietly obsessing over the right shade of green for a single wall. Home is personal - more personal, probably, than most of us admit. This month, we've been thinking about that: about the objects that make a space feel inhabited rather than staged, and about the particular satisfaction of a room that couldn't belong to anyone else.
Our pride homeware edit is built around that idea. Pieces with colour and character, chosen for the people who know exactly what they want and aren't especially interested in playing it safe. Something that doesn’t happen every day: the chance to own a slice of Diane Keaton’s (very) extensive archive. Earlier this month, it was announced that New York-based auction house Bonhams will spearhead four auctions spanning May and June, offering up the late Academy Award winner’s personal archive. The sales will include everything from plush furniture and, no doubt, a killer selection of hats to red-carpet Gucci looks, artwork and trinkets collected throughout her lengthy on-screen career.

For Rachel, Mother’s Day isn’t about a polite brunch or a single showstopper dish, it’s about abundance.
