Octaevo is a Barcelona-based studio designing paper vases, home decor, tableware, and stationery inspired by the vivid colours, ancient philosophy and quiet mystery of the Mediterranean. Every piece is considered and restrained, balancing craftsmanship with quality materials to create objects that feel good, function well, and fit naturally into everyday life. Made to last and sourced with care, Octaevo's collections bring a sense of Mediterranean warmth and story into the home.

Hot Takes is a new monthly series on the things that make life better. Our creative director, Laura Jackson’s lends her lens on a tightly edited selection of what’s worth knowing about. First up: Bags Made for Living.

The drinks matter. The room matters more than anyone likes to admit.
A good bar is a piece of set design. The lighting is low, the seating is arranged so everyone can see everyone else, and the bartender stands where the eye naturally lands. Here are seven rooms that would hold up with the lights on. Nobody has checked.

Our Monthly What's On is a curated round-up of the exhibitions, restaurant openings, residencies and gigs we're making plans for. From gallery shows and design fairs to new tables worth booking, cultural moments to catch, and the under-the-radar events you'll wish you'd heard about sooner.
Think of it as your cultural compass for the month ahead: a considered edit of art, food, music and design, chosen to inspire weekends well spent.
October is the month London stops pacing itself. Frieze lands mid-month and drags the entire art world with it, the film festival runs for twelve days either side, and the big autumn exhibitions open in a cluster in the first fortnight. Book the things that need booking now, and leave a weekend free for the ones that don't.

What's On In October

The supper club sits somewhere between a dinner party and a restaurant. You eat what you're given, at a time someone else has decided, usually next to people you've never met. What you get in return is a menu nobody had to make commercially viable: a chef testing an idea, a format that would collapse across a full service, food that arrives in the middle of the table because there's no other sensible way to serve it.
The 11 below run out of home kitchens, a decommissioned Victoria line carriage, a 200-year-old cotton mill on the River Goyt and a lakeside restaurant in the Cotswolds. Some seat 32 people four times a year. Some are built on the assumption that you're coming alone. Prices start around £30 and go to £140, and the only constant is that someone else has decided what you're eating.
