The second in our neighbourhood guide series - this time our Head of Creative Anna on Highbury.
​I walk everywhere. That's the whole thing, really. I'll add twenty minutes to a journey to avoid going underground, and in Highbury I almost never have to - the park, the high street, the good pubs, the shops I actually use, all of it is on foot from my front door.
It helps that there's genuinely somewhere to walk to. I'd say the best restaurants and pubs in London are within a mile of here, which I know sounds like the kind of thing everyone says about their own postcode, but I'll stand behind it.

My Neighbourhood with Glassette Head of Creative Anna Hale

In 1967, Anna Castelli Ferrieri designed a storage unit that didn't look like storage at all. Three stacking drums, a swivel base, doors that click shut with a satisfying half-turn. Kartell has barely touched the design since. Today it sits in bathrooms, nurseries and design museums with equal confidence. In 1956, Charles and Ray Eames unveiled a chair designed to feel like "a well-used first baseman's mitt". It took three years, seven prototypes and one abandoned plywood shell to get there. Two tones from the same warm family, close enough to feel considered, different enough to hold interest - the blush of apricot softening the deeper flush of coral's red undertow.
Apricot does the quiet work. Diffused, flattering, the colour of late afternoon in a room with good light. Coral sharpens the mood without breaking it, adding just enough depth to stop the combination reading as sweet. Together they feel less like a pairing and more like a progression, a colour story that rewards looking twice.

There's a reason we spend so much time rearranging, repainting and quietly obsessing over the right shade of green for a single wall. Home is personal - more personal, probably, than most of us admit. This month, we've been thinking about that: about the objects that make a space feel inhabited rather than staged, and about the particular satisfaction of a room that couldn't belong to anyone else.
