Halloween films divide into two kinds. There are the ones built to frighten you, and there are the ones that only want the season - the low light, the house with too many rooms, the sense that something in the corridor has been there longer than you have. These are the second kind. Some of them are funny. One of them is stop-motion. None will cost you a night's sleep.

10 Films for Halloween That Won't Frighten You

Our Co-Founder and Creative Director Laura Jackson rediscovers forgotten Mallorcan treasures.
"Four summer days in Mallorca. We found ourselves there to celebrate a family wedding and in the days following, we set out to find some glittering coves and secret swimming spots, local lunch spots and beautiful ceramics to take home. The south east corner is a part of Mallorca I haven't visited since I was young and I felt all the excitement of rediscovering forgotten treasures and well kept secrets." Laura

Eleanor is Glassette's Buying and Brand Acquisition Manager - the person who sources new homeware and lifestyle brands for the platform, shapes the ranges, and spots what's worth paying attention to before most people have clocked it. Every month, she shares the products she can't stop thinking about, the trends quietly moving into interiors, and honest recommendations she'd genuinely spend her own money on.
This month: the back-to-school dread that ends, as ever, in a new notebook and a house full of primary colours, the frames built around a polaroid strip rather than in spite of it, the tea towels she's decided are too good for the kitchen and has hung on the wall instead, the yoghurt topping the whole office keeps asking about, and the six mirrors doing six entirely different things with the same object.

I get asked this one a lot, usually with a slight edge of suspicion. How do you find these places? As though there's a list somewhere and I'm sitting on it.
There isn't a list. What there is, I think, is a habit - one I've been doing for so long that I'd genuinely stopped noticing I was doing it. It's less a method and more a low hum in the background of everything else. Writing it down has been quite revealing, actually.
So. Here it is.

How to discover the coolest places in a new area

Sitting somewhere between an introvert and an extrovert, the idea of travelling solo was something I both debated and fretted over. In 2023, a week after my birthday, I took the leap and headed to the sandy beaches of the Maldives. Three years on, it still feels surreal to type that sentence.

How to Travel Solo? Advice for Introverts and Extroverts!

July, you've been a lot - but in a good way. Busy doesn't quite cover it, but here's what's stuck with me this month.
A reading room stocked entirely with queer literature, tucked inside an Aesop store. A cabbage (yes, a cabbage) baked and frosted until it passes for a cake. A cosy, intimate dark in Fitzrovia that's somehow fully booked on a random Thursday.
But the one that's properly stayed with me, a shoe shop in Shoreditch, about to go under, saved overnight because the owner's daughter put it on TikTok and the whole neighbourhood turned up for it. Community, doing what it does best.
So that's my July edit, a bit of design, a bit of food, a bit of "support your local shop or lose it." Exactly as a July edit should be.

What Inspired Me This Month

“I've made so many friends all over the world and have had so many discussions with followers about books they've read and loved,” says Rachel Soo Thow, the visionary behind the online literary Instagram account, The Lit List, of the virtual community she’s cultivated. “On the other hand, I've also had conversations with readers about books they didn't love and why; and that's what I love about this community – discussion invites intrigue, and if I can create that, then my job is done.” The 187k people who follow Rachel (and counting) would undoubtedly agree.
What started as a page to document the books she loved, those she didn’t love quite so much, and why, has grown into a powerhouse. On the feed, you’ll find the New Zealand-based creative’s current reading list, accompanied by short blurbs about each novel, essays she’s reading to combat internet brain rot, her personal Substack essays, and much more.
Alongside this, Rachel has launched a subsidiary account, Litsy, where non-viral book recommendations – both old and new – can thrive. Her approach to reading is entirely mood-based, and she’ll often pick up a book and, “if it doesn't grab me, then I put it aside and move on to the next one”. Solid advice, to be honest.
Rachel is a woman who knows what she wants to read – so we caught up with her to find out which books will be occupying her summer, the head-scratchers that left her rethinking, well, everything, the essays she keeps returning to, and, most importantly, whether she’s a bookmark user or a page-folder.

Nice Things This Week

This month’s colour pairing to brighten dark January brings together butter yellow and sky blue - a creamy, mellow yellow with an airy blue. Butter yellow feels warm and comforting, while sky blue adds calm, clarity, and a cool freshness. Together, they strike a balance that feels light, optimistic, and instantly uplifting.

Sky Blue & Butter

"This year my idea for giving gifts to my friends & family is to think of the thing that they get most excited about, the everyday ritual they do at home that brings out their most creative self. I’ve curated gifts for the person who treats every morning coffee like a work of art, the zealous home cook, the beginner photographer, the person who always goes the extra mile when you come over for dinner and the colour lover who is always mood-boarding & collecting ideas for their future home. I hope that my approach gives you some clues about how to find the perfect gift for your loved ones this season! We have curated everything you need for everyone on your list on Glassette."
