A desk is the only surface in the house that nobody furnishes on purpose. Everything on it arrived for a reason and none of the reasons were aesthetic: the pen came free, the mug is from a conference, the paper is held down by whatever was nearest. Which is a shame, because it's where a lot of us now spend the hours we used to spend elsewhere. The ten brands here make the things that end up within arm's reach for years: mouth-blown glass paperweights, hand-built trays for the stuff that has nowhere else to go, a diary invented in 1908 to fit inside a breast pocket. None of it will make you work faster. That isn't the job.

10 Deskware Brands to Know

A stationery shop is a good test of a city. These are small businesses with thin margins, kept alive by repeat custom and a particular sort of obsessiveness. The ones that last are usually run by someone who has strong feelings about laid paper and no interest at all in footfall. Here are 8 of the most beautiful.

8 of the World's Most Beautiful Stationery Shops

September arrives and something in us wants a clean page. Not a resolution, exactly - more the low-grade satisfaction of a fresh notebook and a pen that works. The desk gets cleared. The old diary, three months untouched, goes in the drawer. Our collection with Papier is built for this particular itch: notebooks and notecards that look good enough to leave out on the table and are sturdy enough to actually get used. Start with the notebook. The rest tends to follow.

The second in our Where We'd Stay series, where we get the people behind exceptional places to stay to talk us through what they built and why.
This time we're on the Devon-Dorset border, at Glebe House: a late Georgian vicarage turned working farm, sleeping up to 18 across nine bedrooms and a handful of cabins, run by Hugo and Olive Guest as an English answer to the Italian agriturismo. Hugo's family home for decades, it was Emma and Chuck Guest's foodie B&B before Hugo and Olive took it on themselves - leaving their jobs in London with a three-month-old baby, an EU grant, and a plan to grow it from three bedrooms to nine. Six years on, there's a restaurant, a kitchen garden, an on-site bakery and salumi ageing room, a sauna and cold plunge, and a sitting room painted a deep terracotta they call fruit fool.
Olive worked with Studio Alexandra on the main house, then took over the interiors herself as the place expanded - painting furniture gradually over the years, and, more recently, teaching herself mosaic-making on a two-metre kitchen backsplash that had to be built upstairs, dismantled, carried down piece by piece, and rebuilt on the kitchen table (where the family ate around it for a fortnight) before it finally went into one of the cabins.
Each instalment covers one property, question by question - the design decisions, the nearby spots worth knowing about, and the one thing guests always comment on. This time: that you've walked into an old friend's house, and somehow you're still being hosted exceptionally well.

Where We'd Stay

Sitting somewhere between an introvert and an extrovert, the idea of travelling solo was something I both debated and fretted over. In 2023, a week after my birthday, I took the leap and headed to the sandy beaches of the Maldives. Three years on, it still feels surreal to type that sentence.

How to Travel Solo? Advice for Introverts and Extroverts!

Good renovation advice is almost always retrospective. You have to make the mistakes first. Room by Room is a new series from Glassette where we ask designers and homeowners to walk us through a single space: what wasn't working, what they spent too much on (and whether it was worth it), and what they'd tell you before you pick up a sledgehammer.
In the heart of London sits a slice of Iran in restaurant form. Persian decor adorns the interior of Berenjak Mayfair, which opened its doors earlier this year. It's described as "busy, buzzy and intimate" by Jake Raslan and Lorenzo Buscaroli, the minds behind the interiors – and we're inclined to agree.
With an expansive budget, the pair were able to bring to life stunning details, from a hand-painted ceiling by a specialist decorative artist, inspired by historic Persian miniatures, to bespoke marble mosaic floors in the toilets and elegantly draped curtains. The devil is truly in the detail when it comes to the Mayfair dining spot.
An endeavour that took more than a year to complete, a great deal of time, sweat, bespoke tiles and love were clearly poured into the space. On the food front, guests are treated to an immersive experience, with a kitchen that spills into the dining space, allowing them to watch stone-baked bread and smoked meats being prepared in real time.
We caught up with the brains behind the project to uncover the most expensive details, why handmade craftsmanship really is worth the investment, and whether they have any regrets.

“I've made so many friends all over the world and have had so many discussions with followers about books they've read and loved,” says Rachel Soo Thow, the visionary behind the online literary Instagram account, The Lit List, of the virtual community she’s cultivated. “On the other hand, I've also had conversations with readers about books they didn't love and why; and that's what I love about this community – discussion invites intrigue, and if I can create that, then my job is done.” The 187k people who follow Rachel (and counting) would undoubtedly agree.
What started as a page to document the books she loved, those she didn’t love quite so much, and why, has grown into a powerhouse. On the feed, you’ll find the New Zealand-based creative’s current reading list, accompanied by short blurbs about each novel, essays she’s reading to combat internet brain rot, her personal Substack essays, and much more.
Alongside this, Rachel has launched a subsidiary account, Litsy, where non-viral book recommendations – both old and new – can thrive. Her approach to reading is entirely mood-based, and she’ll often pick up a book and, “if it doesn't grab me, then I put it aside and move on to the next one”. Solid advice, to be honest.
Rachel is a woman who knows what she wants to read – so we caught up with her to find out which books will be occupying her summer, the head-scratchers that left her rethinking, well, everything, the essays she keeps returning to, and, most importantly, whether she’s a bookmark user or a page-folder.

A pairing that earns its keep through proximity rather than contrast, apricot and coral work because neither is trying to win. Two tones from the same warm family, close enough to feel considered, different enough to hold interest - the blush of apricot softening the deeper flush of coral's red undertow.
Apricot does the quiet work. Diffused, flattering, the colour of late afternoon in a room with good light. Coral sharpens the mood without breaking it, adding just enough depth to stop the combination reading as sweet. Together they feel less like a pairing and more like a progression, a colour story that rewards looking twice.

Your invitation sets the tone before a single guest arrives. At Glassette, we believe the details matter - the texture under your fingertips, the ink on the page, the moment someone pulls an invitation from an envelope and feels something. Whether you're drawn to the delicate or the bold, the handcrafted or the graphic, here are five beautiful approaches to making your invitations truly unforgettable.

Dopamine Dressing, Dark Romanticism, and the Return of Maximalism. The 2026 Met Gala looks as the interior trends we're seeing right now. The theme was fashion as fine art, but every look told us something about the rooms we're craving right now.

Because if you’re going to finally sort your life out (subscriptions, savings, that one email you’ve been avoiding since October) you may as well do it properly. Think candles, good food, a table full of friends, and just enough peer pressure to actually press “cancel subscription”. Here's how to host one.

The Drawer Clean-Out

There’s something about the start of a new year that makes everything feel possible - a blank page and a gentle reset. I’m not one for dramatic reinvention, but I am big on getting organised early, so the year doesn’t run away with me. Every January, I print out my weekly planning sheets, map out the months ahead, and pin up my A0 calendar so that 2026 feels visible, and therefore manageable. This year, I’m adding a misogi into my planning to get the most out of my year - one big, slightly daunting goal that sits outside the day-to-day and makes the year feel directional. I’m also pencilling in mini breaks early, so there’s rest built in before everything fills up. Here’s what I’m using to plan 2026!

How To Plan Your 2026

Napkins don’t need to remain as plain, folded squares placed beside a plate. With a little creativity, they can be twisted, tied, or sculpted into shapes that feel just as delightful as the meal itself. From simple knots and casual rolls to more intricate origami-inspired folds, napkins can instantly elevate the dining experience. They add a touch of artistry, charm, and personality to the table, making even everyday meals feel special. Here are a few ideas to style your napkins and bring extra joy to your table setting.

Creative Ideas For Folding Napkins

Wallpaper is back, but not as you remember it. Gone are the days of flat florals and dated repeats - today’s designs are bold, textured, and deeply personal. From mural-like landscapes that wrap you in atmosphere to abstract patterns that energise a space, wallpaper has become less of a backdrop and more of a statement. It’s about creating a mood, telling a story, and giving walls the same care we give to furniture or art. Whether you cover a whole room or just a single wall, wallpaper is the quickest way to transform a space.

Wallpaper Is Back Edit

This autumn, colour is less about rules and more about resonance. As Vogue noted of the runways, the season’s palette balances nostalgia with fresh energy, and the same is true at home. Three shades are standing out for interiors right now: mustard, candyfloss and mint. Each carries its own mood, its own way of transforming a space.

Lighting under £200, but far from ordinary. These are designs that do more than illuminate - they transform spaces with warmth, personality, and charm. The Portable Pierre Charpin Lamp by HAY (£105.00) slips seamlessly from table to terrace, while Josh Page's Block Lamp Base (£180.00) lends sculptural presence to any corner. For earthy elegance, the Hiko Lamp by Amanita Labs (£85.00) balances form and function. Each piece is thoughtfully designed to cast gentle light and unmistakable character.
