Our weekly Nice Things Edit is a curated Monday round-up of what we’re loving right now. From our favourite pieces on Glassette to a recipe, a watch, a read, a place to visit, a restaurant, and a gift worth bookmarking.
Each week, every member of the Glassette team shares their current favourites, whether that’s new arrivals, pieces we’ve spotted trending, or timeless finds we can’t stop thinking about. Think of it as a weekly dose of joy, discovery, and design inspiration, handpicked by the Glassette team.

Nice Things This Week

There is a certain kind of house where nothing is ever really put away. Things gather, plants creep in, flowers dry out, furniture gets moved around, and somehow it all becomes part of the place. That’s what the Owens house in Practical Magic feels like.
Inside, the aesthetic is one of beautiful chaos: mismatched china, copper pans, jars of herbs, pressed flowers and old books stacked everywhere. Nothing is too neat. The kitchen opens onto a glass conservatory, while the rooms are full of details that feel accumulated over time. The house doesn’t look haunted so much as inhabited. Even the more fantastical details feel completely at home there.

Film Moodboard: Practical Magic

The last warm evenings of the year, and what to do with them. London in late August has a particular quality. The parks are worn thin from three months of use. The light turns amber around seven and the air cools by ten. Almost every outdoor programme in the city is now in its final fortnight, which lends the whole thing a useful urgency. You either go this week or you wait until next May.
Here are 9 ways to spend the evenings that are left, from a floating lido in the Docklands to a car park roof in Peckham.

9 Outdoor Dates for the End of Summer in London

A good lamp does more work than people give it credit for. It sets the mood of a room before anything else in it does, softens a corner that would otherwise go unused, gives a house somewhere to look warm at 6pm in January. The nine brands in this edit all understand that a light fitting is sculpture with a job to do. Some lean into colour and whimsy, others into restraint and material. Here's who to know.

9 Lighting Brands to Follow

A good design fair is, quite frankly, priceless. It's these art fairs that shape the year: where new work gets its first outing, where inspiration is found, and where you discover unknown artists who'll forever change your space. Book your hotel early, wear shoes you can stand in for eight hours, and leave a free morning for the IYKYK exhibitions.

Design Fairs Worth Planning a Trip Around

The shell has spent decades being filed under "holiday souvenir" and not much else. That's over. Scalloped edges are turning up on lamps and mirror frames, mantelpieces are swapping their usual ceramics for conch and clam, and entire chandeliers are now being built from them - somewhere between a cabinet of curiosities and a beach house, minus the sand. It helps that the appeal was never really in question: no two shells the same, no improvement required. This isn't a coastal trend so much as good taste finally catching up with something the sea got right first.

Trending: Shell We?

Chelsea Flower Show is here. To celebrate, we've put together an edit that asks: what if flowers were interiors? The answer, it turns out, is rather beautiful.

Flowers as Interiors

Flowers don't need to be arranged so much as considered. The vase, the stem count, where you put them in a room - small decisions that add up to something that feels intentional rather than just bought. We've pulled together five creative ideas for styling cut flowers at home.

Creative Ideas For Flower Arranging

This Mother’s Day, celebrate love, care and gratitude. For every kind of mothering, from mums and step-mums to grandmothers, aunties, godmothers and the friends who show up like one, we’ve curated a gift guide made for giving thanks. Whether they are a breakfast-in-bed person or a “don’t fuss” minimalist, find something that says thank you.

A soft midweek reset isn’t about deep-cleaning - it’s about easing the week back into something manageable. In this guide, we share low-effort midweek reset ideas that take 10–20 minutes and make your home feel calmer fast: clearing one surface, containing clutter (not organising it), resetting the sink, and adding one sensory cue with lighting or scent. Includes a simple 12-minute routine, the objects that make resets effortless, quick picks for when energy is low, and a practical FAQ.

Midweek Reset, Soft Edition

The everything drawer clean-out is the quickest way to make daily life feel calmer - without becoming minimalist or turning it into a weekend project. This elegant, practical guide walks you through a 20-minute reset, the tray layouts that actually stay tidy, and the prettiest tray options (ceramic, rattan, lacquer, marble) that make “miscellaneous” feel intentional. Includes common mistakes to avoid, quick picks, and a simple maintenance rule so the drawer stays beautiful - even when life gets busy.

The Drawer Clean-Out

When the sun clocks off at 4pm, your home needs a lighting plan and we’ve got just what you need! Winter is when your home starts telling on itself. That chair you love? Suddenly too dark to read in. Your kitchen? Weirdly clinical. Your living room? Technically fine, but somehow not somewhere you want to be. And then there’s the nightly ritual: you finish the last email, it’s pitch-black outside, and you switch on the ceiling light like you’re interrogating yourself. Welcome to the 4pm problem - when winter exposes lighting that was designed for seeing, not living. The fix isn’t complicated. It’s just… softer, warmer, and a little more layered than you think.

Winter Lighting Guide

Design isn’t only about how things look - it’s about how they make us feel. The texture of ceramics, the weight of fabrics, the play of light across a room. Design for the Senses is an exploration of atmosphere and detail: pieces that engage touch, scent, and sound to create a home that feels alive. Considered pieces, made with integrity, that invite a slower, more tactile way of living.

Design For The Senses

For the nature lover who feels most at peace surrounded by the outdoors, discover gifts that bring the beauty of nature home. Think gardening books filled with inspiration, packets of seeds ready to bloom, botanical prints, and handwoven baskets that echo the textures of the wild. Each piece is rooted in nature’s tones and rhythms - designed to ground, calm, and reconnect. Perfect for those who cherish morning light, open windows, and time spent outdoors, these gifts celebrate the quiet magic of the natural world and the joy of watching things grow.

Gifting For Nature Lovers

As the evenings grow darker and the clocks get ready to go back, it’s the perfect moment to lean into the warmth of ambient lighting. Soft, layered light can completely transform a space - casting a gentle glow that soothes and softens as daylight fades. Think the golden hue of table lamps, the calm flicker of candlelight, or sculptural pieces that bring both form and function. As we settle into slower evenings, let lighting set the mood - creating pockets of warmth, comfort, and quiet radiance throughout your home.

Ambient Lighting Edit

Whatever this season brings - whether it’s busy schedules, quiet evenings, or much-needed downtime, our Self Care edit is here to make it all a little brighter.
This collection is filled with comforting treasures to help you slow down and savour the moment: think soft, cosy throws to curl up in, soothing candles that bring a gentle calm to your space, and beautiful mugs that make your morning cuppa feel extra special.

Self Care Edit

Lighting under £200, but far from ordinary. These are designs that do more than illuminate - they transform spaces with warmth, personality, and charm. The Portable Pierre Charpin Lamp by HAY (£105.00) slips seamlessly from table to terrace, while Josh Page's Block Lamp Base (£180.00) lends sculptural presence to any corner. For earthy elegance, the Hiko Lamp by Amanita Labs (£85.00) balances form and function. Each piece is thoughtfully designed to cast gentle light and unmistakable character.
